Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Dodged a bit of a bullet with some thunderstorms that fired on the Piedmont late yesterday afternoon; these storms died as they approached the I-95 corridor, and that was that.

Those storms were in association with a backdoor cold front dropping south over the area. As of this writing, the front is located just south of the State Line, and will kind of waffle a little bit with a bit of troughing to the north. This will keep chances for showers and thunderstorms about the area for today.

No heat advisories today; in fact, a break from the heat today… we should top off around the 90-degree mark this afternoon if we can get some sunshine. If the clouds/showers/storms win today, we won’t get out of the 80s.

Front continues to push a bit southward and dissipate for your Wednesday.  This will mean a mostly dry day, although I can’t rule out a stray shower or thunderstorm.  Temps will be seasonable, right around the 90-degree mark, but humidity values will actually be quite tolerable, making it feel not so oppressive.

Don’t get too used to it though, as Bermuda high pressure starts to reassert control Thursday and lasting through the weekend.  Temperatures get progressively hotter and humidity becomes progressively higher each day, and the NWS has implied that heat advisories will probably be needed this weekend.  Only slight thunderstorm chances, mainly over the weekend.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:  Disorganized showers and storms east-southeast of the Lesser Antilles will run into environmental conditions highly unfavorable for development. No other areas of interest in the tropics.
