Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Today we’ll enjoy a one-day reprieve from the oppressive humidity and heat. We’ll have an abundance of sunshine, low humidity, and seasonable temperatures right around the 90-degree mark.
The frontal boundary that dropped south of the area and off the southeast coast will do a couple of things. The first is develop a wave of low pressure (see “Tropical Outlook” below), and then lift back to the north as a warm front on Thursday.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible on Thursday as this front lifts back over our area. I don’t think we’re looking at any washouts, but expect a day similar to yesterday with sunshine, clouds, and a few scattered storms about the area. Any storm that comes together will be relatively slow-moving and produce some heavy rainfall.
Then the heat cranks back up… the ovens get turned on full blast Friday through Monday. Bermuda high pressure reasserts full control of our weather bringing sunshine, high heat, high humidity, and isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. High temps will reach back into the upper 90s with heat index values pushing advisory criteria through the weekend… the latest NWS discussion highlights the potential for extreme heat warnings Saturday and Sunday. I’m hesitant to put it on the graphic, but it wouldn’t surprise me if highs reach triple-digits once again over the weekend.
TROPICAL OUTLOOK: A weak area of low pressure has formed along the frontal boundary just off the coast. This is expected to drop southwestward, cross the Florida peninsula and move into the north-central Gulf over the next couple of days. There is very low likelihood that this will develop into anything but does bear watching for our friends along the Gulf coast.
