Here’s today’s Bottom Line
We picked up over an inch of rainfall yesterday in Whiteville thanks to a pretty heavy storm that rolled through during the afternoon. You can expect very similar weather conditions today with a mix of sunshine and clouds, scattered thunderstorms developing early this afternoon.
No heat advisories today! (But it’s still going to be rather hot with highs in the mid 90s.)
A frontal system makes it’s approach on Thursday with a cold front finally pushing through late Friday into early Friday evening. This front sags just to our south by early Saturday as waves of low pressure roll along the front.
On Thursday I believe we’ll see similar conditions with a mix of sunshine and clouds along with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Friday starts out with some sunshine, but the rain and thunderstorm threat grows through the afternoon. Periods of rain and thunderstorms can be expected Friday night through Saturday, with some locally heavy rainfall possible as those areas of low pressure move along that front. There may be some breaks of sunshine on Saturday, but you’re definitely going to need an umbrella more than you’ll need sunglasses. With the clouds and rain in the area on Saturday, it’s probable that we won’t get much above 80 degrees for afternoon highs.
The front kind of lingers in our area with a bit of troughiness just to the north for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. This returns us to a regime of sunshine, clouds, and occasional showers and thunderstorms. Fortunately, our temperatures will actually be a bit BELOW normal for the first few days of August with highs generally in the lower to middle 80s. Modeling does show that we get back up to around 90 or in the lower 90s by the end of next week as that boundary potentially lifts back north as a warm front.
TROPICAL OUTLOOK: There is nothing of interest or potential development in the tropics at this time.
