The N.C. Governor’s Highway Safety Program gathered with officials in Charlotte August 20 to announce the launch of the upcoming Labor Day “Booze It and Lose It” campaign. The statewide enforcement initiative, which runs from Monday through Sep. 7, uses amplified outreach and enforcement efforts to keep impaired drivers off the road during one of the busiest and most dangerous travel times of the year.

Whiteville City Councilwoman Helen Holden has been charged with driving while impaired four times since 2007, convicted twice, and exonerated once, according to court records. Saturday’s arrest was her fourth DWI charge since 2007.
