A repeat drug offender who was out on bond was returned to jail Wednesday after another drug arrest.
Julia Rebecca Jordan, 42, was held under no bond, charged with simple possession of narcotics. She was arrested Aug. 8 for driving while license revoked, and released on a $3,500 unsecured bond, according to detention center reports. Her address was listed as 22 Bradford Lane, Whiteville.
County vice-Narcotics officers were on patrol in the area of Burkhead Street and Powell Boulevard Wednesday when they observed Jordan make a traffic violation, according to a press release. The driver of the vehicle, who was not named or charged, gave permission for investigators to search the vehicle.
They found a quantity of narcotics in a jacket on the passenger seat, and Jordan admitted the jacket was hers. She said she had forgotten about the drugs, the release said.
The arrest was made during a “proactive patrol” by vice-narcotics investigators, the release said.
“Our Narcotics Division continues to prioritize the apprehension of repeat offenders and the removal of illegal substances from our communities,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers. “Every arrest is another step toward making Columbus County safer for our families, and we will not relent in our fight to keep these dangerous drugs off our streets.”
