Eagles defeat Heide Trask 18-6

Friday night in Rocky Point, the East Bladen Eagles downed Heide Trask 18-6 in the season opener for both squads.

The Titans jumped on the Eagles first with a six-yard touchdown run by Kamajah Wilson. The PAT failed and the score was 6-0 in favor of Heide Trask.

East Bladen responded with a three-yard TD run by Dashon Campbell with 1:29 left in the quarter. A failed PAT left the score in a 6-6 tie.

The Eagle next recovered an onside kick but the drive fizzled out. The Eagles took the lead later in the second period on a touchdown run from Riley Collins to give East Bladen the lead 12-6. The Eagles defense smothered Heide Trask the rest of the second quarter.

The score remained 12-6 at the half. The Eagles added to their lead in the third period with a one-yard touchdown by Jaden Lewis to put the score 18-6, which remained the final score. The Eagles ground out 315 yards led by Dashon Campbell’s 148 yards. Lewis had 65 yards on the ground while Collins contributed 45.

The Eagles defense was vicious and swarming all night, holding Heide Trask to 120 yards of total offense for the night.

The Eagles go to 1-0 on the season and will host county rival West Bladen (0-1) next Friday in  the Battle for the Bell.

Heide Trask (0-1) will go to The Swamp to battle East Columbus (0-1).
