A star baseball player at East Columbus who was on his way to work died in a single vehicle crash on Canal Cove Road at Lake Waccamaw today.
Landyn Jacobs, 17, was en route to work when he wrecked on Canal Cove Road before dawn. He was transported to Columbus Regional by Lake Waccamaw EMS.
Jacobs was reportedly heading to meet his fellow workers on a logging crew in the Green Swamp.
The rising senior was a standout for the ECHS Gators during te spring season, earning accolades during the April tournament.
Lake Waccamaw Police are investigating the crash.
