They say rivalries bring out the best in sports and the most recent West Bladen-East Bladen Girls Volleyball match proved that old saying to be true.
The undefeated Knights had to go to five sets to defeat the winless Eagles 3-2 by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 27-29, 22-25, and 17-15. Greer Pope led the Knights with 33 assists and six kills. Natalee Sykes added 24 assists and Emmy Bryan nailed seven aces. The West Bladen Knights go to 3-0 on the year.
Taylor Dowless had 10 kills for the 0-3 Eagles. Addison Douglas provided 10 digs in the loss.
They will do a rematch on Aug. 27 in Dublin. The Knights go to Clinton on Aug. 25. East Bladen will host Clinton on Monday.
