
The county’s seventh highway fatality this evening (Saturday) claimed the life of a Spring Lake man.
William Washington Jr., 50, was driving his 2015 Harley Davidson at a high rate of speed when he rear ended a car on U.S. 74 near Delco School Road. Sgt. K. McVicker of the Highway Patrol said he died on the scene of the 7:30 p.m. collision.
Yazan Alahwas, 18, of Chadbourn was driving his 2015 Honda in the 45 mile per hour zone when Washington struck the car. The Motorcycle went off the right shoulder, and Washington was thrown. Alahwas brought the car to a controlled stop.
No alcohol was involved in the crash.
No charges will be filed.
