Raleigh Man Jailed for Refusing to Leave Jail

Babatunde Okunoskan (CCSO)

A Raleigh man got what he apparently wanted when he refused to leave the Columbus County Detention Center Wednesday: more time in jail.

Babatunde Okunsokan, 27, of Raleigh, was charged with two counts of second degree trespassing and held without bond, according to detention center reports.

Okunsokan was arrested Aug. 8 for trespassing after being told to leave Columbus Regional. He allegedly returned, and was taken into custody by Whiteville Police.

When he was released on an unsecured bond Tuesday, sheriff’s reports said, he refused to leave the grounds of the Detention Center. After being told repeatedly to vacate the premises, he was taken back into custody and charged with two counts of second degree trespassing.

The report did not explain why Okunsokan would not leave the Detention Center property.
