
Chadbourn Town Councilmember Rashad Roberts has been named Second Vice President of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Black Elected Municipal Officials (NCBEMO).
Roberts was officially sworn in during NCBEMO’s annual Summer Conference, held last week in Greensboro.
“I’m honored to serve as Second Vice President of the North Carolina Black Elected Municipal Officials,” Roberts said. “I’m grateful for the trust of my peers and excited to help lead efforts that uplift our communities and strengthen Black leadership across our state.”
As the newly elected Second Vice President, he joins black elected municipal officials from across the state on the Board of Directors.

- Brian Jackson, Jacksonville Councilmember – President
- Veronica Carter, Leland Councilmember- First Vice President
- Dontario Hardy, Kinston Mayor – Immediate Past President
- Bryan Haynes, Fuquay-Varina Commissioner – Director (2025–2027 term)
- Sona Cooper, Spring Lake Mayor Pro Tem – Director (2025–2027 term)
- Barbara Foushee, Carrboro Mayor – Director (2025–2027 term)
- Ricky Credle, Belhaven Mayor – Director (2025–2026 term)
- Brandi Matthews, Goldsboro Councilmember – Director (2025–2026 term)
The North Carolina Black Elected Municipal Officials has taken the lead in supporting public service as a way to implement change for citizens of North Carolina. NCBEMO strives to achieve political and community transformation through training, education, collaboration, advocacy and outreach programs that promote the mission of the organization. NCBEMO is a nonpartisan, nonprofit statewide organization of current black elected officials and supporters of the organization.
