Scorpions Down Whiteville Soccer, 4-1

Whiteville’s soccer squad stayed with North Brunswick for a half Tuesday, with a 1-1 score, but the Scorpions wore down the Wolfpack defense in the second half, leading to a 4-1 loss to North Brunswick.

It is the second loss in a row for the Wolfpack after a 4-4 tie to Seventy-First to open the season. Lander Peterson led the Scorpions with three goals. Tyler Kelly contributed one goal and two assists while Layton Ohmer had four saves. The Wolfpack’s only score came on a goal by Ulysses Villagrana in the first half.

Both teams are on the road for their next contests. Whiteville (0-2-1) travels to West Brunswick (1-1) on Wednesday. North Brunswick, who have won four in a row to go to 4-2 on the year, go to Vinegar Hill to face the South Columbus Stallions (0-2) Wednesday.
