Stallions Roar Past Vikings 49-20

TABOR CITY–South Columbus took down the Vikings of West Columbus 49-20 in a non-conference match on Friday night in high school football. The Vikings jumped on the board early with a eight yard touchdown run by D.J. Graham to give West Columbus an early 6-0 lead.

The Stallions returned the favor with a touchdown of their own, a five-yard burst by Gentry Thompson. The PAT made it 7-6 Stallions.

In the second quarter, Briar Johnson of South Columbus threw a 21-yard TD pass to give the Stallions a 14-6 lead. The Stallions added another touchdown before the half with a 38-yard run from Easton McPherson to give them a 21-6 lead over the Vikings at the half.

The Stallions took the opening drive of the second half down the field, culminating with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to McPherson to put the Stallions up 28-6. With just under four minutes to play in the third, South Columbus put another score up with 18-yard TD run by Gentry Thompson, making it 35-6.

Briar Johnson connected with McPherson later for a 28-yard TD pass to put the score out of reach 42-6. West Columbus would score a pair of touchdown in the fourth and South would add one for your final score 49-20.

South Columbus goes to 2-0 on the season. They will play host to cross state rival Loris, S.C. (2-0) on Friday. West Columbus (0-2) will go to Dublin to face West Bladen (0-2) on Friday.
