
In Dublin, West Bladen did not let injuries slow them down as the Knight defeated Whiteville in volleyball 3-0.
West Bladen was slowed by injuries to two of their key players, Emmy Bryant and Jaylyn Clark. This caused the Knights to have a close first set before having a four-point run to win 25-19. The Knights took control and won the next two set 25-12 and 25-19. Greer Pope had 15 assists for the Knights and Natalee Sykes contributed 13 assists. Makenna Thurman served five aces for West Bladen, who are now 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference and 11-2 overall. They will go to Fairmont (2-3, 4-11) on Monday.
Whiteville now falls to 0-5 in the conference and 1-11. They will face South Brunswick (6-0, 11-4) in Boiling Springs Monday.
In Tabor City, South Columbus downed Fairmont 3-0. The Stallions (4-2,8-9) will face East Bladen (3-12) Monday in a non-conference match. Fairmont, now 2-4 in the Southeastern Conference and 7-11 on the season, will host West Bladen (5-1, 11-2) on Tuesday.
In Elizabethtown, North Duplin squeezed by East Bladen 3-2 in volleyball. East Bladen took the first set 27-25, but fell in three out of the next four 23-25, 25-21,19-25, and 9-15. Maggie Brown led the Rebels with 18 kills and 5 blocks.
Marriss Bernal also had 30 digs for the Rebels (7-1, 11-3). East Bladen is now 3-5 in the Carolina Conference and 3-12 overall. They will host South Columbus (8-9) on Monday. North Duplin will host Hobbton (7-1, 11-3) in a key conference matchup Tuesday.
