The Gators of East Columbus got the best of Hobbton 3-0 in ladies volleyball on Thursday. The Gators won by scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-11.
Malia Graham led the Gators with 13 kills and three assists. Brittany Mitchell had 16 assists for the Gators. East Columbus goes to 4-1 in the Carolina Conference and 8-1 overall. They will play Tuesday at East Bladen (2-2, 2-9).
The Knights stayed hot as Kimberly Dowless led West Bladen to a 3-0 sweep of Fairmont on Thursday. Dowless had seven kills and five blocks for the Knights, now 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference and 8-1 overall. Natalee Sykes chipped in with seven assists. The Knights travel to Red Springs (0-1, 1-7) Tuesday.
In Whiteville, the Wolfpack fell to South Brunswick 3-0 in a Southeastern Conference matchup. The set scores were 25-12, 25-10, and 25-12.
The Wofpack go to 0-2 in the conference and 1-7 overall. They will host North Brunswick (5-7) on Monday in a non-conference matchup.
South Brunswick goes to 2-0 in the conference and 5-4 overall. They play at New Hanover (5-8) on Monday.
