A toddler was struck and seriously injured Wednesday evening when she ran into the path of a truck. The child was on Greens Mill Road fishing with her parents on a bridge at the time. Willow Sellers was transported to UNC Hospital. Her parents, Shula Sellers and Brittany Nobles, were cited for misdemeanor child abuse.
Reagan Nicole Powers was charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter and felony negligent child abuse. The mother of Kalani, Kendall, Josephina and Sophia Melvin was not present when their home burned Aug. 30. The girls died in the fire. The girls’ 11 year old sister Winter and a 12 year old escaped. Powers is out on $400,000 secured bond, and was given a court appointed attorney.
The iconic Guiton’s Drug Store has a new name and management. Whiteville Family Pharmacy held a ribbon cutting Wednesday. The downtown staple with one of the last remaining soda and ice cream fountains in the state. Angela Soles was manager of Guiton’s before purchasing the 1928 pharmacy this past December.
