While some heavy rain not associated with Tropical Storm Imelda could be seen here, Columbus officials are going out of storm mode.
“Forecast confidence has increased that Tropical Depression No. 9 will remain offshore and track away from the Southeast United States,” County Spokesman Howard Wallace said in a press release. “At this time, only minimal impacts are expected locally.”
As a result of the latest information no shelters will be opened, schools will be open and all government offices will open as usual Monday.
Emergency Services staff will continue to monitor the storm closely, Wallace said. Personnel are standing by until the system has fully moved past, in the event the storm does not take the anticipated turn to sea. Residents are encouraged to stay alert by following official updates and reviewing the latest briefings for any potential changes.
