BEAR CREEK — East Columbus ended a 17-game losing streak by defeating the Chatham Central Bears, 22-20.
The last time the Gators were victorious on the football field was on Sept. 29, 2023, when they defeated county rivals South Columbus 22-21.
After trailing 6-0 at the half, the Gators scored all their points in the second half for the victory. East Columbus was led by Dawson Crosby, who managed 75 yards on 6 carries. The Bears QB Brooks Albright had 132 yards total offense, with 3-7 passing for 83 yards.
East Columbus, now 1-2 for the season, will host the Whiteville Wolfpack on Friday, when Central Chatham (1-2) hosts North Moore (1-2).
