Homecoming for East Columbus High School has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Sept. 25, due to the incoming weather. The activities begin at 7 p.m., and the entry fee is $10. All alumni are welcome.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville is offering their last bird themed program for the month of September. The Nature Playspace pop-up a session will be on Sept. 25. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the museum.
The Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina received a big gift from Black’s Tire and Auto Service last week. BTS held their annual fundraiser golf tournament and raised $272, 844 for the BGHNC. The facility thanked Ricky Benton and the Black’s family for their contribution.

Four foxes that were extracted from deplorable conditions at a fur farm have made their way to their permanent home at Shizzy’s Wildcat Rescue in Fair Bluff. These will be the first of many that will find sanctuary at the facility.
The critters need a name, and SWR is selling raffle tickets to those interested in participating in the name game. Tickets are $5 for one ticket, $20 for 5, $50 for 15, $100 for 35, or $250 for 100. The raffle will end on Sept. 26, and the winners drawn will be put up on the SWR social media platforms.

Columbus Regional Healthcare will host its annual ‘Tailgate for Prostate’ on Sept. 26 from 12:30-3 p.m. at Advanced Urology in Whiteville.
You can enjoy free tailgate food and enter a raffle for free Carolina Panthers tickets. There will be free PSA bloodwork, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol and A1C screenings.

The Veterans Memorial Park of America, the facility will host their second annual ‘Faith in Motion: Car Show and Praise Extravaganza’ on Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the park. The event is sponsored by PFWB Men’s Fellowship.

Get your dancing shoes on and join the Columbus County Farmers Market on Sept. 27 from 5-8 p.m. for their Fall Harvest Festival. The evening will include a live band, games, food trucks, photo props, market vendors and more.
Admission is $5 for adults and children nine and under get in free. The market is located at 132 Government Complex Drive in Whiteville.
Mishop Springs Community Church will be having a tent revival this Saturday, Sept. 27, starting at 10 a.m. The event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. Lunch will be provided.

Bolton Baptist Church will have Homecoming Sunday on Sept. 28. The guest speaker will be Reverend Sterling Sarvis. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., and worship service will follow at 11 a.m. BBC’s address is 126 Poplar Avenue.
Big changes are coming to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. You can join them on Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. as they break ground for a new facility. The address for the event is 817 Washington Street in Whiteville.
The Columbus Baptist Association needs your help with food donations for the children in Columbus County. Like most non-profit programs, funds for the Backpack Buddy Program have been cut this year. The association packs 800-900 bags for kids to carry home on the weekends who may not otherwise have a meal again until they return to school on Monday.

Grissettown-Longwood Fire Department will be opening their haunted trail for another season of spookiness every Friday and Saturday evening from 7-10 p.m. during the month of October and from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, for Halloween night.

A chicken bog fundraiser will be held on Oct. 3 at the Vietnam Veterans building for Alayna Adams, a 15-month-old little girl diagnosed with brain cancer who is receiving treatments at Levine Children’s Cancer Hospital.

The Sheep Dog Foundation will be holding Basic Pistol Camp beginning Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The rest of the class will follow at the same times on Oct. 11, 18, and 25. A catered lunch will be provided on training days.
The class is designed to bring even the newest handgun owners up to speed. It focuses on attention to detail, practical application, and safety consciousness. No particular skill level is required. Students will acquire a solid foundation in safe firearm ownership, handling and shooting fundamentals through classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and range time.
Tuition for the camp is $125 which includes lunch and range fees, and those interested can sign up at www.sheepdogfdn.com/basic-handgun. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 30.
Fair Bluff will be having the Fall First Saturday Market on Oct. 4 starting at 8 a.m. until. There will be live music, a kids pumpkin carving contest, a fishing contest, vendors, and a livestock swap.
This event is held every first Saturday of the month on Riverside Drive in Fair Bluff.
Southeastern Community College will be holding a bus driver class Oct. 6-9 in the T Building on campus. Registration will be at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, and classes will begin promptly afterwards at 8 a.m.
All participants must be on time and will not be allowed to participate if they miss a portion of the class. You must bring $70 cash on the first day, along with your driver’s license, pencil and paper.
