Here’s today’s Bottom Line

The “cool” weather high pressure wedge will slowly break down for today. We’ll still see a good bit of cloudiness, but more sunshine than yesterday.

Strong high pressure centered essentially over the NC/TN border will remain locked in place right into next week. This is part of a large-scale omega block over the United States, which is a bit unusual this time of year. The result will be dry weather and gradually warming temperatures each day into next week. A little backdoor cold front will whisk down through the area likely sometime Tuesday or Wednesday next week, but that frontal passage will be remarkably unremarkable.

TROPICS:   We’re at the peak of hurricane season, and conditions remain very quiet across the Gulf, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic. There is a new wave about to move off the coast of Africa and will move into an area that could feature some slow development over the next 7 days.  But that’s it.

No tropical threats to the Carolinas for the next 2 weeks.
