Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Yall… this is just cool.
I have never seen a satellite image quite like this… two storms side-by-side, as seen late Monday afternoon. I think it can be more appreciated knowing that neither will have any direct impacts here. After weeks and weeks of quiet tropics, now we have this. Pretty fantastic stuff.
Ok, I’m done geeking out now.
The frontal boundary along the coast helping bring in rain from Imelda yesterday and last night will be “pulled away” from the area with the departing storm system.
In other words, Humberto will “tug” Imelda, which will “tug” the frontal boundary away from the area.
Strong high pressure extending from central Texas northeastward through the Ohio Valley to near Hudson Bay will start to influence our weather beginning on Wednesday. Temperatures the rest of this week will run a bit below normal as the sprawling high pressure moves slowly eastward. By Friday the center of the high extends from Long Island southward through central North Carolina… where it will essentially stay locked in place until at least next Monday. As the high builds overhead, our temperatures climb back to normal, and then a touch above normal by the start of next week.
Some of the longer-range modeling suggests a slight chance for showers/storms by next Monday, but in the meantime, after today, we’ll be high-and-dry once again.
TROPICS: Both Humberto and Imelda will move away and have no direct impacts on the Carolinas, outside of rough surf and deadly rip currents the next several days.
The tropics are busy…
… but the NHC doesn’t have any of these highlighted as areas to watch at the current time. I’ll keep watching but it’s nice to breathe easy once again… for now anyway.
