West Bladen Stops Vikings 38-28

DUBLIN — West Bladen racked up 527 yards rushing as the Knights ran past West Columbus in football Friday, 38-28.

The Knights (1-2) were led by Ahmarie White, who had four touchdowns and 249 yards rushing. The Knights got on the board first with a one-yard run from White. Issiah Robinson found the end zone later in the first quarter with an 11-yard run to give the Knights a 12-0 lead.

West Columbus got on the board in the second with a 75-yard interception by Desmond Williams to close the gap to 12-6. The Vikings tied the score before the half with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Ayden Scott to Santonio Vareen to make it 12-12 at the half.

Ahmarie White scored from six yards out and Sincere McKinley added the two-point conversion with 10: 53 left in the third quarter to put West Bladen up 20-12.

The Vikings responded with a six-yard TD run by Jahan Lesane-Powell. Ayden Scott’s two- point conversion tied the score 20-20. With 9:15 left in the fourth quarter, Issiah Robinson put the Knights back up 26-20. White extended the Knights lead with a five-yard run giving West Bladen a 32-20 lead.

With 3:52 left in the game, the Vikings struck back with a four-yard run by Lesane-Powell. West Columbus converted the two-point conversion to cut the lead to 32-28. White put the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter with a 52-yard sprint to the end zone to put the score 38-28.

To go with Ahmarie White’s 249 yards and four touchdowns for the Knights, Sincere McKinley added 172 yards on nine carries.

“The guys fought hard all game,” West Bladen Coach Preston Worley said. “The offense really took off tonight. Our backs ran hard and we rode them all night behind our offensive line. Tonight was a great first win of the season, but we have to get better on both sides of the ball and get ready for Heide Trask next week.”

West Bladen will go to Rocky Point Friday to take on the Titans of Heide Trask (1-2). West Columbus, now 0-3 on the season, will play Sandhills.
