
SHALLOTTE — Brunswick got four touchdown passes from Josiah Borton to propel the Trojans to a 54-15 rout of South Columbus Friday.
The Trojans struck first with 5:15 in the first quarter with a six-yard touchdown run from Jaquell Davis. The PAT from Carmine made it 7-0 Trojans.

South Columbus had to punt on its next possession and the Trojans returned the ball to the Stallion 27 yard line. Josiah Borton hooked up with K’Veon Griffen for a 27-yard touchdown pass to put the Trojans ahead 14-0. South Columbus went for it on fourth down in the next possession but failed, giving West Brunswick the ball at their 39-yard line to end the quarter.
Borton hit Griffen on the first play in the second period for a 39-yard touchdown pass to put it 20-0. After a Stallion punt, the Trojans scored on a 16-yard run from Borton to give West Brunswick a 26-7 lead with 8:01 left in the quarter. South Columbus got on the board when Jaylin Hubbard returned the kickoff 84 yards to make the score 26-7.
West did not rest.
They scored quickly with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Borton to Jude Surigao to make it 34-7 Trojans with the two point conversion. West Brunswick’s Borton connected with Nick Graham from 30 yards to put the Trojans ahead 41-7 going into the half.
In the third quarter, Jaquell Davis added a TD for the Trojans to put them up 48-7. The Stallions got back in the end zone with a nine-yard touchdown pass from Jaxon Greene to Easton McPherson. Phillip Smith Jr. scored the two-point conversion to make it 48-15. Jaquell Davis of West Brunswick added the final score with a five-yard touchdown run to make it 54-15 with 10:59 left in the game.
West Brunswick goes to 3-1 on the year. They will open conference play at home to Laney (2-2) September 19. The Stallion (2-2) will host Pender (3-0) on Friday.
