Cleanup is continuing after flash flooding hit Whiteville and Chadbourn Sunday and Monday. A coastal storm dumped from 6 to 9 inches of rain across Columbus County. Virtually all of the town of Chadbourn was flooded Sunday night, where nine to 12 inches of rain were reported. Several businesses along Frazier and Pecan Streets in Whiteville had more than a foot of water inside. Our office at 1015 S. Madison Street took on water. Our friends at The Donut Shop and Murf’s Pawn also had several inches of water in their businesses.
