Multiple students face juvenile petitions after two teachers were struck during a fight at South Columbus High School on Tuesday. A fight off campus apparently extended into the school day, when several students allegedly went to a classroom and attacked a student. The teachers were struck while trying to break up the fight.
Deputies have charged a Bladen County woman with choking her stepson and throwing him against a wall. Crystal Ann Roberts, 40, of 13652 N.C. 87 Hwy., Tar Heel, was held under $500,000 secured bond in the Bladen Detention Center, charged with one count each of misdemeanor and felony child abuse.
After impacting Bermuda with winds and rain, Hurricane Imelda is expected to continue east then north east into the colder north Atlantic Ocean. She will take on “post-tropical” characteristics while remaining hurricane strength for a day or so and then will weaken with increasing latitude.
