Deputies have charged a Snake Island Road woman with child abuse after her toddler son was found playing naked in a roadway.
Cheyanne Angel Spurling, 23, of 604 Snake Island Rd., Whiteville and 308 Cedar Branch Rd., Chadbourn, was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond on a single charge of misdemeanor child abuse, according to detention center records. She was served with the warrant Friday.
Warrants show that on Sept. 29, Spurling’s child was found playing in a public roadway near the family home. The child was naked and had exited the home through a hole in the floor of his bedroom, the warrant said. The child was not injured.
Spurling is due back in court Dec. 5.
