East Bladen Crushes Lakewood 32-0

The Eagles flew high over the Leopards Friday, cementing a strong win for East Bladen.

ELIZABETHTOWN –– East Bladen ran for 352 yards and demolished Lakewood 32-0 Friday night. East Bladen with the win moves to 3-2 in the Carolina Conference and 6-3 overall.

Both teams got off on the wrong foot to start the game. The Eagles fumbled on the opening drive. Then Lakewood returned the favor, with Torean Campbell recovering a fumble for the Eagles on the Leopards’ 49 yard line. The Eagles then capitalized on the Leopards’ mistake and Dashon Campbell ran it in from four yards to put East Bladen on top 6-0 with 6:43 left in the first quarter.

The Eagles recovered an onside kick on the following kickoff. East Bladen went 50 yards on 10 plays capped with another Campbell touchdown to put the Eagles ahead 12-0 with 50 seconds left in the first quarter. The game remained 12-0 until the fourth quarter when Jaden Lewis ran it in to from 27 yards. Keyshawn Kemp handled the two-point conversion to give the Eagles a 20-0 lead with 10:13 left in the fourth quarter. Kemp extended the Eagles’ lead to 26-0 with a touchdown with 4:01 left in the fourth. East Bladen’s Julius Battle added a late score from 42 yards out for the final 32-0 result.

Jaden Lewis led all Eagles rushers with 141 yards on 25 carries. Dashon Campbell also had 82 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

“Our defense was lights out,” said Coach Robby Priest. “I thought we were good in every phase, offense, defense, and special teams. I’m proud of the way they played. It’s a great win to honor our seniors on the final regular season game of their four year careers.”

Lakewood (3-1, 5-3) managed just 38 yards on the ground in the game. The Leopards will host Hobbton (4-0, 5-3) in a key Carolina Conference contest. East Bladen will travel to Union (0-4, 2-6) for their final regular season contest.

While both teams got off to a slow start, EBHS shrugged off the mistakes and came back to smash Lakewood.
