
RED SPRINGS — Â QB Chase Boone went 10-14 passing and 176 yards along with a rushing touchdown Friday night to down West Bladen in football 35-0.
Red Springs, now 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference and 3-5 on the season, scored with 47 seconds left in the first quarter with a two-yard touchdown run from Raymond Blue Jr. Kamron McBride converted the two-point conversion to give the Red Devils a 8-0 lead.
Red Springs got back on the scoreboard again in the third quarter when TJ Ellerbe ran it in from six yards out to put Red Springs ahead 15-0 with the extra point from Marco Tellez. Nazir Blackmon found the end zone again for Red Springs from a yard out with 1:44 left on the third quarter. Tellez hit the extra point to give the Red Devils a 22-0 edge. With 9:02 left in the game, Boone crossed the goal line from five yards out to put the score 28-0. Blue found the end zone again late in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard burst. Tellez nailed the PAT to make the score 35-0.
Raymond Blue Jr. had 87 yards and two scores for the Red Devils. Their defense was strong on Friday night, holding the Knights to 37 yards rushing. Red Springs accumulated 361 yards of offense on the night. They will travel to conference leading Whiteville (3-0, 6-2) Friday. West Bladen is now 0-3 in the conference and 2-6 on the year.
The Knights got 10 tackles each on defense from Wendell Way and Isaiah Robinson. They are hosting South Columbus (2-1, 4-4) on Friday night.
