Two Sought for LP Tank Theft

Ten propane tanks were stolen from an outside display at a Dollar General store  near Tabor City Tuesday.

The larceny was reported at 1:39 p.m. at the store located at 18015 Swamp Fox Highway East. Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were contacted by a store manager who discovered the lock for the display had been broken, and ten Amerigas tanks were missing. The tanks had a total value of $600.

Security footage showed a male and female subject in a pickup truck pulled up near the display. While the male was breaking the lock and loading the LP tanks, the report said the female went behind the store. The pair then drove behind the store and loaded an unknown amount of property before fleeing the scene.

Damage to the display was estimated at $1,000.
