
On Tuesday, West Bladen took to the road and defeated South Columbus in volleyball 3-2 to set up a chance for a tie of the Southeastern Conference championship. The Knights downed the Stallions with set scores of 25-23, 16-25, 19-25, 25-12, and 15-10.
The Knights are now 8-1 in the conference and 14-2 overall and will host South Brunswick (9-0, 14-2) Thursday for a chance to share the regular season title. Kimberly Dowless led the Knights with 15 kills and Makenna Thurman had 12 kills. Greer Pope dished out 19 assists and Natalee Sykes chipped in 11 assists. The Stallions, now 5-4 in the conference and 10-11 overall, will travel to rival Whiteville (1-8, 2-14) on Thursday.
In Newton Grove, East Columbus took down Hobbton 3-0. The Gators are now 9-1 in the Carolina Conference and 15-1 overall.
East Columbus took all three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-21. The Gators will host West Columbus (3-8, 3-12) on Wednesday.
In Calypso, North Duplin swept West Columbus 3-0. The Rebels (9-2, 13-5) won the match by set scores of 25-17,25-14, and 25-20. The Rebels were led by Abigail Norris with 10 kills and Marrisa Bernal with five assists.
The Vikings fall to 3-8 in the Carolina Conference and 3-12 overall. They will travel to The Swamp on Wednesday for a rivalry game against East Columbus. North Duplin will go to Lakewood (1-10, 2-15) on Thursday.
