The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) expects to process full November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments today.

A driver died after apparently tried to avoid a dead animal on N.C. 87 near the county line. Initial reports show the wreck happened near Gus Bryant Road. The driver died at the scene. The wreck was the eighth fatal crash this year in Columbus County.

A new surgery technique is being used to improve the outcome of prostate surgery in Columbus County. Columbus Regional Healthcare System is among the first in the region to offer Aquablation® therapy the next-generation platform to treat men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate.
