News Briefs for November 26, 2025
Filing for Columbus County Sheriff, Clerk of Court, Columbus County Commissioners and School Board and other offices begins December 1 for the party primaries in March. Primary winners go on to the general election in the fall.
Chadbourn Town Council on Tuesday will give the oath of office to returning Councilman Rashad Roberts and newcomer Avala Nealy. The board will also hear requests to lower speed limits on South Elm Street, Huffham Street and Kinlaw Drive. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Chadbourn Town Hall.
Eligible Columbus County residents can potentially see major savings on the electric bills through a new program. The new Energy Saver North Carolina Program is designed to make it more affordable for low- to moderate-income households to install energy and cost saving measures such as heat pumps, electrical panels and insulation.
