Drugs Lead to Child Abuse Charge

Skipping court led to drug and child abuse charges for a Chadbourn-area man Thursday.

John Warren Richardson, 52, was held under no bond, charged with failure to appear on charges of possessing stolen property, misdemeanor child abuse, and possession of methamphetamine. His address was listed in court records as 2402 Old 74, Chadbourn.

The sheriff’s office reported that deputes were notified that Richardson was at the Holiday Motel, according to the report. He was wanted for failure to appear.

Deputies reportedly found Richardson hiding in a bathroom in a motel room, where they also found a small quantity of marijuana. There was also methamphetamine in his wallet, which was accessible by two children in the room.
