A missing girl was found near Sawmill Apartments in Whiteville around noon today.
Jessica Diaz, 13, of Kelly was reported missing Sunday night, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office. She was last seen leaving her home on foot, but was thought to have caught a ride in a Chevrolet Tahoe around 11 p.m.
The BCSO said the girl was heading for Columbus County, possibly Whiteville.
Whiteville Police developed information about a possible location the girl, and located her safe around noon today, Chief Paul Rockenbach said. Her parents have been notified, Rockenbach said.
