In Buxton, East Columbus saw their soccer season end Thursday in a second round loss to Cape Hatteras 2-0 in the 1A playoffs. Graham Stutts and Liam Van Druten scored goals for the Hurricanes in the victory.
East Columbus’ season ends with a 5-11-2 record for the season. Cape Hatteras’ record moves to 10-5-2. They will face Woods Charter (14-3-1) on Saturday in the third round.
In Raleigh, Raleigh Charter broke a 1-1 tie at the half to beat East Bladen 4-1 in the second round of the 2A soccer playoffs. Ishaq Algozy scored the lone goal for the Eagles. East Bladen finishes the season 14-7-4.
The Phoenix squad (11-6-2) will square off against Diamond Nine conference foe Franklin Academy (17-3-2) on Saturday in the third round on Saturday. Raleigh Charter tied Franklin Academy 2-2 and lost 1-0 to them in their regular season clashes.
