South Brunswick Downs West Bladen 35-7 to Share Conference Title

BOILING SPRINGS — South Brunswick defeated West Bladen 35-7 Friday night to claim a share of the Southeastern Conference title.

South Columbus defeated Whiteville 22-15 Friday to cause a three-way tie for the championship, with all teams finishing 4-1. South Brunswick has struggled recently in football, making this a great accomplishment for this Cougar squad.

South Brunswick got on the board early when Amerius Revels scored from four yards out to put the Cougars ahead 7-0 with the Collin Peattie extra point. The Cougars added to their lead when Jayden Daniels connected with Edward Young for a 97-yard touchdown pass. Peattie added the PAT to make it 14-0.

South Brunswick kept their foot on the gas with another score, this time from a Revels 13- yard dash to make it 21-0. South Brunswick added another score with a Daniels to Corben Farrow 75-yard touchdown pass to extend it to 28-0. Revels ran it in from seven yards out with 3:04 left in the second quarter to put South Brunswick on top 35-0 at the half.

With the lead at 35 points, the clock ran continuously the rest of the game because of sportsmanship rules. Sincere McKinley ran it in from 50 yards to give the Knights their only score of the game in the fourth quarter, making the final 35-7 in favor of South Brunswick.

Jayden Daniels had another outstanding performance for the Cougars, going 12 for 15 passing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. South Brunswick finishes the regular season 4-1 in the Carolina Conference 7-3 overall.

West Bladen (0-5, 2-8) were led by Ahmarie White, who ended up with 119 yards on 15 carries for the Knights. The Knights received the no. 23 seed Sunday for the 3A playoffs. They will travel to no. 10 seed South Columbus (6-4) in the first round on Friday. The Knight fell to the Stallions 35-24 Oct. 24 in Dublin.
