The forecast for rain through Sunday led organizers to change plans for several parades set for this weekend.
Chadbourn and Lake Waccamaw cancelled their parades for Saturday. Lake Waccamaw also cancelled the community tree lighting set for Friday (tonight). The town of Chadbourn said refunds will be mailed to float sponsors.
At Tabor City, the ice skating rink will be closed today and Saturday, and reopen Sunday. The Cookie Crawl has also been rescheduled for Dec. 12.
Whiteville rescheduled its parade for Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., according to organizer Madison Ward. Vendor and float fees will be applied to next year’s parade for those who cannot participate on the new date. The city has also extended the application date for entries and vendors to Dec. 12. Forms are available at City Hall.
While vendors and food trucks will still set up at Vineland Depot, the extravaganza has been cancelled for this year. The tree and sleigh will still be lit and available for photos.
