Hobbton Boys 59, East Bladen 57

ELIZABETHTOWN – Hobbton held on in a tightly contested match to defeat East Bladen 59-57 in boys basketball Friday night.

The Eagles held a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter and was tied at the end of the half at 24-24. Hobbton led by three after three quarters 44-41 and held on for the victory. Amir Tate led the Wildcats in scoring with 25 points as Hobbton moves to 1-0 in the Carolina Conference and 2-5 for the season. Richard Simpson added 16 points in the win.

East Bladen falls to 0-1 in the conference and 0-8 for the season. Keyshawn Kemp led the Eagles with 21 points and Landyn Scott pitched in 16 in the loss.

Hobbton will travel to Union (0-1, 2-4) on Dec. 22. East Bladen will go to North Duplin (0-1, 1-3) on Jan. 6.
