SHALLOTTE—West Brunswick’s Lady Trojans got off to an early start and never looked back in defeating Whiteville in basketball 61-26 Tuesday night.
Ja’kya Johnson led West Brunswick with 17 points and Tameya Thomas added 14 points in the victory. The Trojans (2-2) took an early six-point lead in the first quarter and expanded it to 29-13 at the break. They added to their lead in the third quarter to 47-24 in the third quarter before outscoring the Lady Pack 14-2 in the final quarter for the final score of 61-26.
Asia Smith led the Wolfpack with 12 points and Ceonna Dennis added 11 points in the loss. The Wolfpack (0-2) will host East Columbus and West Brunswick plays Cape Fear Academy (6-1) today.
