Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Welcome to Christmas week… but after today it’s certainly not going to feel like it!

The predominant weather feature over the area this week … and much of the southern half of the country … is that of unseasonably strong ridging high pressure.

Today will be rather chilly in the wake of the dry cold front that moved through last evening. Highs will be in the lower to perhaps mid 50s with full sunshine.

Tonight’s sky will be partly cloudy and lows will dip a bit below freezing, with lows around 30.

A warm front will lift north over the area on Tuesday and this will bring some cloudiness. While no rainfall is anticipated, I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two of you see a raindrop hit the windshield. Temperatures will be dramatically warmer in the wake of this front; afternoon highs will reach the upper 60s to perhaps near 70.

Then our weather becomes more typical of late-March rather than late-December. Lots of sunshine will be the rule each day Wednesday through Sunday. Highs will climb to around 70 on Christmas Eve… and then well into the 70s on Christmas, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday also appears to be warm but the next cold front moves through (dry)… and longer range modeling shows us returning to colder-than-normal temps early NEXT week (the 29th through New Years Eve).  Nothing brutally cold or unusual, but highs around 50/lower to 50s the week of New Years.  Still absolutely no precipitation in sight as most weather systems will rotate to the north around this high pressure ridge.
