Here’s today’s Bottom Line

  • Warming trend begins today, running through the rest of the week.
  • Rain chances increase Thursday afternoon ahead of the next cold front.
  • High pressure builds back in for the weekend with near- to above-normal temperatures.

Brrr…. another frigid start to the day, but today is going to turn out much milder as our highs approach 50 degrees this afternoon (still a good 5-8 degrees below seasonal normal values).

There’s really not a whole lot to talk about in today’s report. Temps turn quite mild for the middle part of the week as high pressure moves to the southeast coast. We’ll see light winds and increasing clouds on Wednesday but highs should get into the lower 60s.

Increasing moisture and warm air moves in on Thursday ahead of an approaching cold front. Temps will rise to near 70 degrees Thursday afternoon with shower chances developing during the afternoon hours.

The best chances for rain … and maybe even some thunder … come with the frontal boundary Thursday night.

Skies become sunny again on Friday but Thursday night’s front won’t have nearly the impact of the front we had on Sunday. Highs should still rise into the lower 60s on Friday. Colder air moves in Friday night with lows dipping back into the mid 30s, with highs on Saturday around 60.

Warm air starts to push back into the area by Sunday with sunshine and highs pushing back into the upper 60s. Longer-range modeling points to daytime temps in the 60s right through the Christmas holiday.

Due to some technical gremlins, a graphical forecast is not available today.  Here’s a text version of the Freedom Insurance Today-Plus-5 Forecast:
