Britt Named As SCC Head Softball Coach

WHITEVILLE — UNCW graduate and Lumberton native Morgan Britt is the new head coach of the Southeastern Community College Rams Softball team. She will also serve as Head of Student Activities and Wellness Coordinator.

She will be granted the task of starting a program from ground up, building a team and roster. Britt has started quickly, contacting local athletic directors and coaches for regional talent.

Britt played softball for UNCW five years, sitting out one year due to an injury. In 2024, she was a member of the CAA Conference Championship team, batting .256 with 22 runs batted in. While at Lumberton High School, she was twice All-State as a pitcher, going 53-19 with 553 strikeouts. While attending UNCW, Britt received her B.A. in Communications and her Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications.

“Playing softball has taught me that I can handle a lot more pressure than I think I can.” Britt stated. Playing softball and competing with her brother growing up was key to her growing up. “I’ve been on a ball field since I was in diapers,” she joked.

Britt explained that her softball career blossomed in middle school and high school in addition to playing travel softball with the Carolina Wildcats. Britt played softball at the collegiate level for six years, and she has given private lessons to younger recreation league players for the past five years in Lumberton and Wilmington.

“My life is very softball-driven, and I knew that is what I wanted to do as a career,” Britt said. “With a wealth of knowledge of the sport, I know that I can give back to younger athletes and help them grow.”

Outside of work, Britt likes to host dinner parties with her friends and family, hang out at Lake Waccamaw and Wrightsville Beach, and shop. Britt considers herself an “outdoors type” but can also binge watch her favorite shows on Netflix and watch reality TV shows.
