Whiteville City School students will have some extra time off this week and next.
In a social media announcement, the city school system said students will be released early Friday, and Tuesday will be a required teacher workday. Schools were already closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday.
No explanation was given for the schedule change.
