Defendant Charged with Meth at Courthouse

Deputies allegedly found crystal meth and three straws in the pockets of a man on trial at the Columbus County Courthouse Jan. 7.

Johnny Dakatto Jacobs, 39, was charged with possession of meth and paraphernalia, and an outstanding charge of failure to appear. He listed his address on court documents as 175 Spring Meadow Rd., Whiteville. His bond was set at $15,000.

Jacobs was at the courthouse for sentencing on a charge of driving without a license, the report said. While he was being processed after sentencing, courthouse deputies found three straws, three plastic bags and a quantity of the drug in his pants pocket.
