A Robeson County murder suspect escaped the Columbus detention center by using another inmate’s name Tuesday.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said Zion Britt, 26, was last seen Tuesday night. He was wearing a black zippered coat, dark sneakers, and had a pink shirt hanging from his back pocket.
The RCSO was notified of the escape Wednesday evening (tonight), according to a press release.
Britt was being housed in the Columbus jail while awaiting trial on a 2021 murder, the RCSO said. He faces charges of first degree murder and conspiracy. He is believed to be in Robeson County.
