Melee Leads to Five Arrests

Multiple charges were filed after deputies investigated a shots fired call on Godwin Trail Saturday.

The sheriff’s office reported that deputies went to 110 Godwin Trail around 5 p.m. after a report of shots being fired in the area. A large crowd was in the area at the time, and deputies heard someone fire a shot from a residence as they arrived.

Deputies reported that a man pointed a shotgun at a neighbor but dropped the weapon when ordered to do so by deputies. A woman then grabbed the weapon, a Remington 870 shotgun, and fired one round into the air. The male suspect then grabbed the gun again, but put it down when instructed by deputies.

Prior to the deputes’ arrival the report said, another male suspect had pointed a firearm at neighbors and juveniles, the report said. He ran when he was approached, but was detained. Two others tried to prevent the third suspect’s arrest, and they were taken into custody.
