Four adults, a child and a Great Dane were in a car with marijuana and crystal meth stopped in Tabor City on New Year’s Eve, police said.
Chasity Pike, 29, and Heliodoro Noyola, 37, were each charged with maintaining a vehicle for drug activities and possession of crystal methamphetamine. Noyola was also charged with resisting an officer and misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was held under a $10,000 secured bond, and Pike was held under$2,500 bond. Pike gave her address in court records as 483 Todd Town Rd., Clarendon. Noyola’s address was listed as 2941 Haynes Lennon Hwy., Chadbourn.
Tabor City Police reported that Noyola was allegedly driving Pike’s Ford Mustang on U.S. 701 Bypass 19 miles per hour above the speed limit just before 9 p.m. The officer checked the tag on the car, and it came back revoked, the report said.
When Noyola pulled out from the McDonald’s, the officer fell in behind him and activated his lights and siren. Noyola refused to stop until a second officer blocked the vehicle around 500 feet from the state line.
When officers approached the vehicle, the report said, they “noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.” Noyola initially refused to exit the vehicle, but stepped out and was detained after he refused to place his hands behind his back.
Four passengers and a dog were still in the car, the report said.
“The passenger seat was missing, and Pike and the dog were sitting on the floor,” the report said.
An adult male, an adult female and a juvenile male were in the backseat.
In the driver’s side floorboard, officers found six grams of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine in a plastic bag. Noyola also allegedly had a bag of marijuana in his pocket, the report said.
Neither Noyola nor Pike claimed ownership of the drugs. The vehicle was impounded.
