Victim Identified in Thursday Homicide

Deputies visited address in previous shooting.

Autumn Rilee Spivey has been identified as the girl killed in a drive-by shooting in China Grove Thursday.

It wasn’t the first reported shooting at the residence.

The teenager was shot in her bed shortly after midnight, Sheriff Bill Rogers said. Family members returned fire after a hail of bullets struck the home and a vehicle at 2013 Old Stake Road.

Miss Spivey, 16, was in the home with four other people when an unidentified gunmen sprayed the house with bullets. Deputies and EMS were called at 12:30 a.m.. Rogers said the first two deputies on the scene performed CPR and treated Miss Spivey while EMS was en route. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rogers said the State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.

Sheriff’s reports show that a vehicle was hit by gunfire at the residence in December. Deputies were called to the address at 11 a.m. on Dec. 13 after two women went to the residence to retrieve some belongings. The women told deputies that a resident of the home brandished a knife at them, and another fired a shotgun at their vehicle. A single pellet hole was found in the vehicle, the report said.

After all the parties were interviewed, the case was determined to be unfounded, and the  District Attorney’s Office chose not to prosecute.
