Here’s today’s Bottom Line:
Today is going to be a cold, dreary, rainy day across the area.
While a few of some of the short-term modeling indicates that some snow may fly late today, I’m sticking with a 100% rain forecast for today.
Rainfall amounts are looking a bit increased from yesterday’s report. I think we’ll end up with between a half and three-quarters of an inch, though some of the modeling is pushing upwards of an inch of rain.
The coastal low responsible for this will quickly pull northeast and away with rain coming to an end by around suppertime today. If we do see any snow, it’ll be at the tail end of the event. Clouds will decrease this evening leaving us clear overnight tonight.
Dry air quickly pushing in will help to dry road surfaces, but AREAS OF BLACK ICE will be a concern for those traveling first thing Monday morning. Bridges and overpasses, “shady areas” (sheltered areas) and curves may be quite slick in spots. Give yourself a little bit of extra travel time Monday.
Dry weather will dominate through the entirety of the coming week. While we start off rather cold, temperatures will return to seasonal normal values Wednesday through Friday… highs in the mid 50s with lows in the lower 30s.
We’re at the climatologically coldest time of the year… normal highs will start increasing after the first of February.
