Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

A backdoor cold front has dropped south of the area. This will result in slightly cooler temperatures today (although still solidly 10 degrees above normal). The clouds and fog some of us are experiencing this morning should dissipate no later than mid-morning. We’ll be left with considerable sunshine and temps in the upper 60s.

High pressure will push offshore of the Delmarva coast this afternoon. This will allow the front to our south to lift back to the north going into Friday morning. As the front lifts north, strong warm air advection will take place, with near-record temps for both Friday and Saturday. Highs Friday in the upper 70s should crest around the 80-degree mark on Saturday.

It’ll become rather windy Saturday afternoon ahead of a strong, but moisture-starved, cold front. The front moves through during the overnight … a few light rain showers may occur just ahead of the front, but most of the moisture and dynamics go much farther to the north.

High temperatures on Sunday will occur relatively early in the day as a second cold front (dry) crosses the area. Temperatures start to fall Sunday afternoon, and then drop off quickly after the sun goes down. Temperatures at the bus stop on Monday morning will be around 30, with highs on Monday struggling to crack the 50-degree mark. We’ll drop deep into the 20s Monday night into early Tuesday, with highs Tuesday perhaps a few degrees milder.

Temperatures then warm back up toward normal heading into the middle of the week with dry weather.
